PLANNING approval has been granted for the redevelopment of Parr Mount Court, building 32 new homes on the defunct brownfield land.
Investing more than £7 million into completely transforming the site, Torus will build a mix of one and two bedroom apartments and two, three and four bedroom houses at Parr Mount Court – all of which will be available via Affordable Rent – seeing the scheme readied for the future through incorporating a number of innovative construction and build techniques, as standard, into each property.
Parr Mount Court 2.0 aims to meet the Future Homes Standard 2025 and reduce future residents' energy usage by 75 – 80 per cent due to the integration of PV panels, air source heat pumps and increased levels of insulation and air tightness.
Collaborating with Knauf Insulation, Parr Mount Court is the latest step in Torus’ journey to becoming a greener, more sustainable developer.
Senior Development Manager at Torus Developments, Colin Lafferty, said: “We know there is a definitive need to become greener in how we build new homes and as a Group, we are making a concerted effort to embed innovative, energy efficient technologies into our developments to not only meet our ambitious 2030 carbon targets, but to build in a way that will benefit future residents, long after we have left site.
“I’m excited about this scheme as not only does it represent our ongoing commitment to becoming greener, but to utilise local skills and talent to make the best homes possible.
“This is the first scheme we have worked on with Knauf Insulation and I am looking forward to learning more about the technologies and materials they will use at Parr Mount Court to create efficient, modern homes I know future residents and the wider community will love.”
Neil Hargreaves, Managing Director at Knauf Insulation Northern Europe, added: “The Future Homes Standard will define domestic construction in the UK for many years to come. In adopting the standard at Parr Mount Court, Torus have demonstrated their commitment to quality and performance and to deliver resilient homes that run efficiently well into the future.
“We’re delighted to be partnering with such a forward-thinking developer in our hometown of St Helens.”
