A MAJOR road in Widnes is closed following concerns for the safety of a girl.
At around 1.50pm this afternoon, Friday, officers were called to reports for the concerns of the safety of a girl on Watkinson Way.
Emergency services attended the scene and the girl was rushed to hospital via an air ambulance.
Road closures are currently in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
The A557, John Collins Way, is currently shut and there is heavy traffic between Mill Lane to A533 Mersey Gateway.
