A CYCLIST is in a critical condition in hospital after a collision involving a car and a van.
Police confirmed they were called to reports of the crash involving a cyclist and the vehicles on Monday, December 4.
Shortly after 4.30pm emergency services were called to a report of a collision involving a silver Nissan Micra and a white Ford Transit van and a cyclist on Sherdley Road, near to Peterlee Close, Sutton Heath.
The cyclist, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital where he is being treated for serious head injuries, police say.
A police spokesperson confirmed this morning that the man was in a “critical condition”.
Both drivers stopped at the scene and have beeb assisting officers with their inquiries.
Road closures were in place in both directions of Sherdley Road, at the junction of Sherdley Bridge and Elephant Lane, while emergency services attend the incident.
