PLANS for a new children’s home have been recommended for approval.
An application proposing the change of use of the property, on Garswood Road, from a residential dwelling house to a children’s home for the care of up to four children will come before the planning committee at its meeting on Tuesday.
It has been recommended for approval, subject to conditions.
The application site comprises of a large, two storey detached property, positioned on the southern side of Garswood Road, according to a report to the committee.
It states the application site is within an established residential area of Billinge ‘amongst a mix of property styles, all generally set within generous plots’.
“The application proposes internal changes to the building to accommodate an additional bedroom, by sub-dividing the master bedroom,” it adds.
“The applicant also proposes to create hardstanding to the side of the property to allow for three additional parking spaces.
“The property would provide a home for four young persons aged between 7 and 17 years predominately, although some residents may stay a short period beyond their 18th birthday whilst they are prepared for independent life.
“The property would be operated and managed by CFS Care Limited, an independent provider of high-quality care and support for vulnerable young people. The applicant has indicated that the property will operate as a multi-bed home for emotional and behavioural needs.
“The daily routine for occupiers residing at the property will be similar to that of any child living in a family home.
“On weekdays they will attend full time education, complete homework, help clean or cook, attend after school clubs, etc. At weekends they will engage in activities both at home and away from home (e.g., sports and shopping), with the objective of creating a stable and shared family living environment.”
