TWO people were injured after a police patrol car was involved in a crash with another vehicle on Sunday night (November 26).
What happened?
Emergency services were called to reports of a collision on North Road, St Helens involving a black Volkswagen Passat and a marked police car, which was responding to an emergency incident.
The crash happened at about 9.30pm on Sunday and led to a huge presence of police and emergency crews being on the scene.
The patrol car appeared to have struck a garden wall, midway up North Road.
Two injured
A police spokesperson said the driver of the Volkswagen was taken to hospital with serious injuries which are not life-threatening.
Meanwhile, the police officer suffered a serious arm injury.

Police investigation underway
Merseyside Police say an investigation into the collision is being carried out.
They are appealing for anyone who saw the collision on North Road, or who has dashcam footage, to contact police as soon as possible.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said this morning: "We are appealing for information following a road traffic collision involving a police vehicle in St Helens yesterday evening, Sunday, November 26.
"At around 9.30pm, emergency services were called to reports of a collision on North Road involving a black Volkswagen Passat and a marked police car which was responding to an emergency incident.
"The driver of the Volkswagen was taken to hospital with serious injuries which are not life threatening, and the police officer sustained a serious injury to his arm.
"An investigation into the collision is being carried out, and we are appealing for anyone who saw the collision on North Road, or who has dashcam footage, to contact police as soon as possible."
