PLANS have been drawn up seeking to convert a vehicle salvage yard into a general garage and MOT station.

Proposals for the change of use at Jackson Street Salvage, Fingerpost.

The current use of the site is for vehicle repairs and the dismantling of motor vehicles, the application, submitted by Keith Farley, states.

It adds: "The ground floor is currently in use by several organisations with a tyre bay adjacent at the rear with retail shops to the front. (Jackson Street).

"The unit I am applying to change the use for is unit C 18 Jackson Street, currently 'Jackson Street Salvage'. 

"I propose to change the use from Vehicle salvage to a general garage and MOT station".

The plans say the site will see general vehicle repairs and MOT testing. It adds there will be machinery used, air compressors, power tools and vehicle lifts "all currently fitted and in use in the unit by the existing use".

The planning application is on standard consultation until Monday, December 4.

Council planners are expected to decide on the application by January 4, 2024.
