A VILLAGE café has sent in a planning application for a gazebo to be installed outside the premises.

Red's Cafe & Coffee House in Rainford, owned by well-known war veteran Andy Reid MBE and wife Claire, is seeking permission for the gazebo to the side of the venue.

The café has become a popular hub along Church Road since launching back in 2015.

Owner Andy Reid has invested in the village after moving to Rainford following the injuries he suffered while serving in Afghanistan.

He previously told the Star the venue provides "a great service, with good honest food at reasonable prices.

"We have our traditional meals but we listen to what our customers want, which keeps it fresh and gives people the best possible experience."

The planning application states it is for an aluminium gazebo pergola.

It states the premises has five employees and has opening hours of 8am to 3pm from on weekdays and 8am to 2pm on Saturdays.

The application is on standard consultation to the public until Wednesday, November 29, with a decision expected by council planners by January 1, 2024.
