A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman in Clock Face.
Just before 3.50pm, yesterday (Wednesday, November 15) a woman in her 60s was found unresponsive inside a house in Cannon Street in Clock Face.
Paramedics attended but the woman was pronounced dead.
Her next of kin has been informed and a post-mortem will take place to establish the cause of death.
A 68-year-old man from St Helens has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
He is currently in custody where he will be questioned by detectives.
An investigation has been launched and a cordon is in place while extensive forensic examinations are carried out.
Detective Chief Inspector Allison Woods said: “Our thoughts first and foremost are with the woman’s family following this tragic incident.
“An investigation is underway in the area and our officers are in the early stages of establishing exactly what happened.
“While we have already made an arrest, our specialist officers remain at the scene as we carry out forensic examinations and review any CCTV footage in the area.
