POLICE say they have identified a man after they issued CCTV images after reports of a sexual assault on a bus that travelled to St Helens Bus Station.

Merseyside Police released an appeal last week on November 10, after the incident on Friday, September 29, at around 10.30pm.

It is reported that the incident took place on a Stagecoach bus that had travelled from Queen Square in Liverpool to St Helens Bus Station.

The victim, a young woman, got off the bus on Warrington Road in Prescot while the alleged offender remained on the vehicle.

Since the alleged assault was reported, officers have carried out extensive CCTV examinations and witness enquiries and detectives issued CCTV images last Friday of a man they believe could assist with their investigation.

Today (Wednesday, November 15), Merseyside Police confirmed that a man has now been identified by police.
