POLICE have given an update on the condition of the two teenage pedestrians who were taken to hospital after a collision with a taxi on Friday morning.

Emergency services descended on to Parr Street, Fingerpost, on November 10 following the collision, which involved two teenagers and a taxi.

A 13-year-old boy suffered a serious head injury which police said is "not life-threatening".

Meanwhile, a 14-year-old girl suffered a serious leg injury and cut to her head, police added. They were both taken to hospital.

Police said the driver stopped at the scene and has been assisting their inquiries and officers have appealed for witnesses and CCTV or dashcam footage.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said today, Monday, that the boy and girl are both in "a stable condition".

She added there has been no further updates in the investigation

A partial closure was in place on Friday as emergency services were at the scene.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said on Friday: "We are appealing for information following a road traffic collision this morning, Friday, November 10, on Parr Street in St Helens.

"Just before 8.15am emergency services were called to a report of a collision involving two pedestrians and a taxi.

"Two teenage children have been taken to hospital. The 13-year-old boy has sustained a serious head injury which is not life threatening. The 14-year-old girl sustained a serious leg injury and cut to her head.

"The driver has stopped at the scene and is assisting officers with their inquiries."

She added: "Parr Street Road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident and has now reopened. 

"We are appealing for any witnesses, CCTV and dash camera footage which may assist the investigation.
