A NEW bar and nightclub enjoyed a "really good" opening weekend after the bright makeover of a Westfield Street club.
Aiming to breathe new life into the town centre's pub and club scene, Kazim Yurdakurban took over the former Circus, Punch Tarmey's, and Zoo Bar and launched 'Kingdom' on Friday, November 3.
In refurbishing the two-storey building, Kazim said that he wanted to do something different with Kingdom, catch the eye of customers and encourage people to the town centre.

Speaking about the business' launch, Kazim said: "It was a really good weekend and we had some great feedback as an 'Over 25s' place too.
"We had a lot of family and friends, and local business owners coming to show their support, so we just hope we can build on this and help bring back a busy scene on Westfield Street."
Sensing that covid caused a real shift in St Helens' nightlife, Kazim has high hopes for Kingdom, which will operate as a cocktail bar throughout the day and an 'Over 25s' nightclub into the early hours.
Although it is only the ground floor that has been refurbished at the moment, the business owner hopes to revamp the building's second floor into an area for tapas and light bites.
He also aims to book live entertainment at Kingdom, including both DJs and bands, to build on the work of other bars and promoters in the town.
As Kazim's family are the owners of popular Turkish restaurant Anatolia Grill and Geno's takeaway, he hopes that Kingdom will be the latest successful venture and investment into St Helens.
The family also manage Empire nightclub on Westfield Street, as well as Breeze Bar on Ormskirk Street before its licence was revoked, so they aim to revive this bar and combine the businesses to offer a varied option in St Helens' nightlife.
