A SHOP for ale and liquor enthusiasts has been on a "rollercoaster" ride since launching in Newton-le-Willows during the pandemic.
Described as a "lockdown idea", Cheryl and Mike Roberts opened a family business dedicated to quality beers, wines, and spirits, along Newton's High Street in December 2020.
Sandwiched in the middle of the bustling mix of independent businesses, Drinkworthy offers a wide range of craft beers from around the world, as well as lagers, IPAs, stouts, and sours from independent and international breweries.

There is also a vast collection of wines on offer, from the sophisticated to the standard, as well as high-quality gin, rum, whiskey, and spirits.
With a "commitment to quality", the business also offers beer collections, gifts and hampers, and bar snacks from their High Street store.
While things have been a little quiet for Drinkworthy of late, Cheryl said that the business' collection of regulars and connection with the 'High Street Hive' community group is what has helped keep it going.
Cheryl, whose background was in sales prior to Drinkworthy, said: "The shop was a bit of a lockdown idea to be honest, but it's been a rollercoaster since we opened.
"We have our regulars that keep us going and there is a really good community in Newton that supports us, so we're glad we've done it!"
With the 'High Street Hive' group playing to the benefit of businesses like Drinkworthy, this is a group of local business owners who collaborate to encourage more people to shop local along the high street.
This has seen events organised such as Oktoberfest, Halloween nights, and Christmas markets take place along the high street, which offers the opportunity for more people to try a place like Drinkworthy.
