GOOD Burgers has had a busy first year in business.

The popular Earlestown eatery opened its doors exactly 12 months ago, serving Aberdeen Angus burgers to hungry customers.

In February this year, a chip fryer caught fire, damaging the kitchen and restaurant, and owner Mohammed Miah had to battle to get the business open again.

This weekend, Mohammed is celebrating Good Burgers’ first birthday with special offers for customers visiting the venue or ordering one of their tasty burgers for delivery.

Here, in our latest Business of the Week feature, Mohammed tells us about the last 12 months, how he’s made his business into a success and what discount deals will be on offer to mark Good Burgers’ anniversary.

Why did you decide to open your own business?

I’ve always wanted to buy my own business and see what’s it’s like to be my own boss. I’ve worked in this industry since the age of 13 and I’ve always worked as it if it were my own business, so it was time for me to shine. It’s great to be able to celebrate one year of the business. We had a rocky start with the fire in February but we came back stronger.

We have had a glitch where customers thought we didn’t accept cards, as it only lets you select cash during the online ordering process. We do take card payments on delivery or in store.

Why this type of business?

Nobody round here serves Aberdeen Angus smash burgers. During Covid we started selling them at Amans on the high street and they became so popular that customers kept asking us to open our own shop. So, last October, when this property became available, we took our chance. It was the best decision we made. The footfall isn’t as good as we hoped with passing trade, but we do get a lot of delivery orders.

What makes your business different to others in the same area/field? What sets your business apart from your competitors?

We’re different because we serve the best possible meat there is. Customer feedback and customer reviews are great. Aberdeen Angus beef is very popular as we know it is 100% quality.

Why do loyal customers return to your business?

Our customers return because of the food! Many customers say they’ve yet to try a better burger. I always say that this is Good Burgers - it doesn’t get any better. We would like to thank all our customers for supporting us - without them we wouldn’t be where we are today.

What’s next? What do the next few months hold for you and your business?

We want people to continue supporting us. It is hard out there at the moment for people running their own business. As we’ve been open for one year, we would like to thank our customers for their support. This weekend, we are offering 30 per cent off everything – collection or delivery. We deliver to St Helens, Golborne, Haydock, Newton-le-Willows, Burtonwood and Winwick.
