THE husband of a woman diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour took to the skies to pay tribute to "the strongest person he knows".

Laura Mahon, 30, from Lea Green, was diagnosed with a glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) brain tumour in September 2021 when she was 27 weeks pregnant.

She and her husband Danny, 29, made the toughest decision to bring their daughter into the world at 30 weeks and on November 30, 2021, Sienna Grace Laura Mahon was born, weighing just 3.4lbs, at Warrington Hospital.

Sienna developed pneumothorax - a collapsed lung; so was transferred to Royal Oldham Hospital to receive specialised care.

In a bid to raise awareness and funds for Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and to fund alternative treatments not available on the NHS, her husband Danny, 29 and his brother Jordan took part in Skydive over the weekend.

Speaking to the Star, he said: “Cancer can affect anyone and has affected our family forever.

“Laura is the strongest person I know and what she goes through every day to keep fighting this disease is incredible.

“We recently got to stay at Patty’s Ban in Lancaster thanks to a charity funding it and next door was the site of the skydiving company, and it gave me the push I needed to say I was going to do it as I always wanted to try something like that and I got my brother involved too all in Laura’s honour.”

Danny added: “Seeing Sienna when I got back down was amazing, Laura didn’t tell me about the t-shirt and it was lovely to see her so happy to see me and Jordan and getting to see her and Laura there was amazing.

There is a GoFundMe page set up raising money for Clatterbridge Cancer Centre as well as alternative treatments for Laura and potentially to create memories with her family.
