A SOCIAL club is looking to become a "communal hub" after it has revealed its new-look premises.
Greenalls Sports & Social Club, on Alder Hey Road, Eccleston, has undergone a complete transformation replacing its ageing former premises as it looks to welcome in a new era.
The transformation includes a lounge and a newly-built sports bar, along with a new cellar and manager's office.
The new club has given the premises a "modern twist", says steward Terri-Ann Dooley.
"We have moved away from the traditional bar, it looks like a hotel lobby and it's modern," she said.
"The contractors NDP have done a cracking job."
Terri-Ann said the club hopes to become a hub in the community
"We want to attract a younger clientele, and what we are aiming to do is make it a communal hub. We've purchased a new coffee machine, the idea is to perhaps open most of the day.
"We have a school over the road (De La Salle), teachers could come across and have a coffee.
"We have the big TV that could be a display to do presentations."
Terri-Ann added: "We've got two darts boards and two snooker tables.
"We do a Monday Smartphone quiz, and a traditional quiz on a Wednesday.
"We are getting new people to come in and we want them to feel welcome. we don't want it to be 'cliquey', we want people to mingle and to meet new people.
"Members and non-members are welcome, members get a discount on purchases.
"We have got two guest beers, our intention is to expand the range of guest beers and appeal to real ale drinkers."
