SUPERMARKET giant Aldi has announced when its new Gemini store is to open its doors to customers.
The German retailer is set to open the new store on Europa Boulevard on Thursday, September 14, at 8am.
Demolition crews moved onto the site in Gemini in November to knock down the former Arnold Clark dealership.
The business announced its intention to vacate its old site in January 2020, and it has since moved across the road into the former Toys’R’Us unit.
Aldi submitted plans to open a supermarket on the site after stating that there is a need and desire for another store.
The new store will employ 44 members of staff from the local community. Applications and more information on all of Aldi’s store positions can be found via aldirecruitment.co.uk/stores
Team GB Olympian Laura Deas, who won a bronze medal in skeleton racing in the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea, will be present to cut the ribbon.
She will also give away complimentary bags of fresh fruit and vegetables from Aldi’s famous Super Six range to the first 30 customers in the queue.
Aldi store manager Phil Stockton said: “We cannot wait to open the doors to the new store in Warrington.
“It is set to be a special day, and having Olympic hero Laura Deas join us will make it a morning to remember.”
Laura added: “I am so excited to be opening Aldi’s new store. It will be great to chat to customers and a lovely way for me to thank Aldi for its support of Team GB.”
The new Aldi store is also calling on charities and food banks in Warrington to register with Neighbourly, a community engagement platform that links businesses to charitable organisations in the local community.
Local charities that register will be able to collect surplus food and perishable products, such as fruit, vegetables and baked goods, seven days a week.
Any charities in the area that would like to partner up with the new Aldi store should email aldi@neighbourly.com
The new Europa Boulevard store will be open between 8am and 10pm from Monday to Saturday, and from 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
