POLICE have given an update on the five men arrested in St Helens following shootings in Prescot and Huyton on Tuesday.

The first incident occurred at around 1.25pm on Paxton Road, in Huyton, when a firearm was discharged at a house. There was no damage caused to any properties and no reported injuries.

Around 25 minutes later, there was a second reported incident on Shaw Lane, in Prescot, when further shots were fired.

Damage was caused to two properties, but there were no reported injuries.

Five men were arrested that same day in Freckleton Road, West Park, St Helens on suspicion of possession of a firearm.

Owen Jameson, 19, of Primrose Drive, Huyton, has been recalled to prison after he was found to have breached his licence conditions.

Andrew Rathbone, 25, of Pinfold Crescent, Kirkby, and Liam Higham, 20, of Ashfield Crescent, Kirkby, have been charged with breaching court bail conditions and they have both been remanded in custody to appear at Wirral Magistrate’s Court today, Thursday, August 17.

The other two men, aged 19 and 25, have been released on conditional bail pending further inquiries.

A police investigation is ongoing into the two shootings.
