POLICE have issued an appeal after a group of youths were seen at the site of an empty building which was set on fire
As the Star reported last week, emergency services rushed to the former Scott Clinic last Thursday afternoon, July 27, after a blaze at the site, which was found to have been started deliberately.
Police are appealing for information following the suspected arson at the building on Rainhill Road on Thursday, July 27.
At around 4.30pm, emergency services were called to the former Scott Clinic following a report of a fire.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the fire shortly afterwards, which investigations found was started deliberately.
It was further reported that "a group of youths" had been at the location at the time of the incident.
This is the latest in a number of incidents at the former Scott Clinic, with youths previously trespassing, vandalising and starting fires inside the building.

Community Policing Inspector Stacey Pope said: “By trespassing, causing damage and starting fires at the building, these youths are acting in an extremely dangerous and reckless manner. They are not only putting themselves in danger, but also others.
“It’s also placing demand on emergency services as both Merseyside Police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service have been called out to this location on multiple occasions in recent months.
“The actions of children, or anyone, who commits anti-social behaviour or more serious offences won’t be tolerated and we would ask parents to play their part in ensuring their children don’t end up on the wrong side of the law. I would urge parents to make sure they know where their children are when they are out and about in the local community.
“Furthermore, if parents are aware that their child has committed an offence, they should do the right thing and contact us.”
