THREE people have been arrested after two men were stabbed in St Helens.

Just around 4.30pm this afternoon (Sunday, July 2) police received reports that two men has been stabbed at a house on Chapel Street.

One man was taken to hospital with several stab wounds, but has now been released. The other man was also taken to hospital with a stab wound to his neck and is in a stable condition.

A 20-year-old woman and two men aged 66 and 40 from St Helens, who were the victims of the attack, have all been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault. They will each be questioned by detectives.

Officers are continuing their enquiries in the local area.

Chief Inspector Nathan Stockley said: “Although our officers have made swift arrests shortly after the incident which has left two men injured our investigation is still in its very early stages.

“If you saw what happened or have any information which could help us, please get in touch so we can continue our investigations.

“I would like to reassure residents that we believe this was an isolated incident, and there is no wider threat to the community.

“We rely on members of the public coming forward with information so please tell us what you know so we can continue to take action.”
