PROPOSALS to display an illuminated sign on a building – which will not ‘create a distraction’ for drivers’ – have been approved.
The application seeking consent to display one externally illuminated projecting sign at Sutton Children's Centre, on Ellamsbridge Road, was passed by the planning committee at its Town Hall meeting on Tuesday.
Members had been recommended to grant advertisement consent, subject to conditions.
It will be displayed on the eastern elevation of the building, while it will be 2.25 metres in width and 1.23 metres in depth.

A report to the committee said the application has been reviewed by the council’s highways officers.
“They have reviewed the impacts of the advertisement on highway safety and raise no objections,” it added.
“The proposed signage is not considered to create a distraction for drivers along Ellamsbridge Road as the building is set back from the road and the signage is of a modest size with external lighting at a level which would not cause a hazard for drivers or other road users.”
