A WOMAN who was in charge of a dangerously out of control dog which injured a man while he was walking his canine will be sentenced later in July.

Barbara Woods, of McCormack Avenue, Parr, appeared before Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court on June 21.

Woods, 35, was charged after a black 'staff-type' dog reportedly ran over and bit a man and his dog, as they were walking along Chapel Street, close to the town centre, at around 5pm on Monday, September 26, last year.

The man suffered a bite to a finger and his dog had a wound on his back and was taken to the vets for treatment.

Woods was charged with being owner/person in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury.

A court sheet said she was alleged to have been in charge of a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and Husky cross, which was dangerously out of control on Chapel Street and injured a man.

Woods indicated a guilty plea to the charge.

The 35-year-old was granted unconditional bail and is due to appear back at the magistrates' court for sentencing on Wednesday, July 19.
