A MOTORCYCLIST mounted a pavement and knocked a boy off his bicycle before riding off.

Police are appealing for information following a report of the collision which involved a teenage cyclist and a motorbike in Newton-le-Willows yesterday evening, Monday, June 26.

Officers received a report at around 6.50pm that a 13-year-old boy cyclist was stationary on the traffic island on Crow Lane West, when a black motorbike mounted the pavement and caught his bike's handle, knocking the young boy to the floor.

The motorcyclist then reportedly rode off from the scene, police say.

The youngster sustained bruising and cuts to his leg and arms, a police spokeswoman said.

The Merseyside Police spokeswoman added: "Officers are appealing for the motorcyclist to come forward to help with inquiries.

"We are also appealing for any witnesses and drivers who were in the vicinity at that time to come forward to help with the investigation.

"If you witnessed the incident or have any CCTV, dashcam or other footage Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any information which could assist the investigation contact @MerPolCC on Twitter or Merseyside Police Contact Centre on Facebook quoting reference 886 of June 26."

The incident followed another 'hit-and-run' in Newton-le-Willows, in which a 13-year-old boy was reportedly knocked off his bike by a car while crossing Ashton Road on Monday morning.
