POLICE have closed a slip road on a motorway after an alleged drink driver crashed into a barrier.
At around 3am this morning, Monday, a patrol officer came across an Audi on the exit slip road at junction 21, Woolston, on the M6 southbound.
The driver had collided with the barrier there causing around 70ft of damage to it.
As a result, the slip road has been closed since.
But it is reported that traffic is ‘coping well’.
A breath test was carried out and according to police, the driver was more than double over the legal limit. They were arrested as a result.
A Tweet from North West Motorway Police reads: “One of our Cheshire Patrols came across this vehicle around 3am on the exit slip junction21 M6 southbound.
