POLICE have confirmed that a body has been found in a search for a missing person.
A large emergency service presence was reported in Sankey Bridges earlier this morning, Friday, with Cheshire Police in attendance off Forrest Way.
Cheshire Police confirmed it was searching for Thea Newton on the Trans Pennine Trail and surrounding areas after she was reported missing from home.
However, it has been confirmed by the force this afternoon that a body has been found.
A spokesman said: “Search teams looking for missing woman Thea Newton, 29, in Warrington have sadly found a body.
“It is believed to be Thea and her next of kin have been informed.
“There are no suspicious circumstances and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
Thea was last seen at around 1.30am this morning at her home address in Warrington, but had not been seen since.
Her car was found parked near Sunflower Drive, with officers, along with search and rescue teams and the drone, proceeding to search the area.
In a statement this morning, Inspector Daniel Richardson said: “We are increasingly concerned for her welfare and are currently searching for her.
“If you are out on the Trans Pennine Way or surrounding area and see a woman fitting this description, please contact us.
“Her family and friends are extremely worried about her and just want her home safely.
“I would also appeal directly to Thea, please let us know you are okay. We are all very worried about you and want to get you back to your family.”
