PLANS have been submitted to demolish car repair garage and build a block of six terraced homes in its place.

Proposals have been sent over the site, to the back of Hope Street, Prescot, to Knowsley Council planners.

A design and access statement in the plans, drawn up on behalf of the applicant says: “The application site relates to a light industrial building used as a car repair garage, which is situated to the rear of 1 – 25 Hope Street which runs off the north of High Street

“The property is situated within its own grounds within a mix of existing commercial business to the front and housing to the sides and rear of the site”.

The application adds: The new building would represent more than a 50% reduction in building cover over the site with a consequent improvement in the sense of openness and reduction in the feeling of oppressiveness that would result for the adjoining residents.”

A previous scheme for residential development at the site was refused planning permission in 2010.

The application has been listed on Knowsley Council’s planning portal. A decision on the plans is expected by July 25.
