POLICE have confirmed that a 20-year-old man has been arrested after a near head-on collision left two vehicles with serious damage.
On Friday, May 5, emergency services were alerted to reports of a road traffic collision on Park Road, at the junction of Merton Bank Road, at around 10.20pm.
Arriving on the scene within minutes, officers found a red Ford Fiesta and a grey Vauxhall Astra had collided at the junction, causing serious damage to the front and side of both vehicles.

Dashcam footage of the crash has since circulated on social media, which shows the collision taking place as one car attempts to turn right onto Merton Bank Road.
No serious injuries were reported from the incident, although the occupants of the Astra, a father and son, reported being "shaken up" and aching from whiplash.
The car is also likely to be written off due to the damage caused to the front of the vehicle, the driver told the Star.
Following enquiries at the scene, Merseyside Police have confirmed that a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drug and driving offences.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We can confirm we received a report of a non-injury road traffic collision on Park Road, St Helens at around 10.20pm on Friday, May 5.
"Following enquiries at the scene, a 20-year-old man from St Helens was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit, possessing a psychoactive substance with intent to supply and possessing a controlled Class B drug (cannabis).
"He has been released under investigation."
