School pupils celebrate King Charles III’s Coronation

Students at Sutton Manor Primary School marched the route throughout the surrounding area cheered on by parents and nearby residents.

Led by children dressed up as King Charles and Queen Camilla, The Archbishop of Canterbury and two Beefeaters, the school body – including several enthusiastic teachers and PCSOs – cheered God Save the King to the honks of passing cars and cheers of people commuting and on the street.

Highlights included grandparents standing on the hill of King George V park clapping and younger children standing on the street waving on their school aged siblings.

Mrs Gladman, the headteacher, said: “To mark the Coronation of King Charles III, Sutton Manor Community Primary School completed a ‘Walk a Royal Mile’ procession through our community.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to bring our Sutton Manor community together to mark this historic event and on behalf of our school I would like to thank all of our families and members of our community for their support, for joining us on our walk and coming out to cheer and wave.

“It is important that children learn about our heritage and this event makes learning memorable for them.

“Well done to our King Carter who led the procession with Queen Consort Ronnie, Archbishop Jack and guards people Kal, Clayah and Emma from Reception class.”
