A ST HELENS DJ says he’s "thrilled and shocked" after landing the gig of a lifetime to perform sets before and after all of the live Eurovision shows.
Eurovision fever has already landed in nearby Liverpool with visitors from across Europe and the UK coming to watch each country’s respective stars battle it out to win the 62nd Eurovision crown.
Liverpool is hosting Eurovision after the UK came runners up last year to Ukraine, however due to the current war with Russia, the UK stepped in to play host.
One bright star Sean Sines from St Helens will be playing for 11,000 live guests a night over six nights, including the grand final on Saturday, May 13.
The 36-year-old from Eccleston said: “I can’t actually believe it to be honest, I’m thrilled and shocked but mostly excited to play for such a big event.”
The former De La Salle pupil started DJing at 16 playing in clubs around the area, before working for New York label Subliminal Records, having hits that got three million streams on Spotify. He worked for Circus before signing with Jamie Jones and Hot Creations.
He’s performed gigs in Ibiza, Los Angeles and G Bar and now is taking to the main stage at the M&S Arena.
He added: “I find it hilarious actually that this has happened. I have always loved music and wanted to work in it and I have worked hard but I’ve been very lucky.
“My friends are really proud of me, they are taking the mick as friends do but they are all really excited, particularly trying to get tickets out of me, especially my friend Michael Haw but I keep laughing and telling them I’ve got none.
"Eurovision is such a huge deal, actually I didn't realise just how big of a deal it was until I started discussions with them three weeks ago, but for them to come to me and ask is a huge honour.
“Me and my manager Niamh are just so excited.”
