FIREFIGHTERS rushed to a blaze on open wasteland on Wednesday evening (May 3).
Two fire engines attended the incident, off Chester Lane, Clock Face, shortly after 6pm.
Smoke could be seen billowing from the area from a distance.
The fire Involved a large quantity of rubbish, which was alight, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said.

A MFRS spokesman said: "Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service attended an incident on Chester Lane, St Helens on the evening of Wednesday, May 3.
"Crews were alerted at 6.12pm and two fire engines were on scene at 6.19pm."
He added: "On arrival crews were met with a large quantity of rubbish alight on waste ground, firefighters used two hose reels to extinguish the fire shortly after.
"Crews left the scene at 7.10pm."
