ALICE Wareing has been working in salons since she was 13 years old, clearly passionate about the hair and beauty industry.
Fast forward 15 years and the 28-year-old has been crowned St Helens’ Best for Hair 2023.
Hair by Alice Michelle is the first winner in our Best of 2023 competition, where each week we search for the best St Helens has to offer in different categories.
We started with Best for Hair and we were inundated with nominations for salons all over St Helens with clients and customers telling us who they thought should make the final shortlist.
Voting for St Helens’ Best for Pies is currently taking place and we’re also looking for nominations in our latest search - Best for Nails.
Ten top salons in St Helens made the shortlist for Best for Hair with Hair by Alice Michelle on Boundary Road taking the coveted crown.
Alice’s business is based inside The Secret Halo on Boundary Road – last year’s winner of the Best for Hair title.
She received dozens of nominations and hundreds of votes from her loyal customers and clients, who have supported her since she started her own business nearly four years ago.
Alice Michelle always “goes above and beyond” to help clients feel better about themselves.
One nomination said she is an “amazing hair stylist and delivers what I want every time”.
Alice, who is from Haydock, said: “I cover all aspects of hairdressing but my favourite part of my job is doing hair up.
“Hairdressing has always been a passion of mine and I felt that going self-employed in August 2019 was the next step after working in salons since I was 13.
“From a very young age I wanted to be a hairdresser and I get so much satisfaction in making my clients feel better about themselves.”
The 28-year-old added: “I was so happy when I found out I’d made the top 10 in St Helens as I know the standards of hairstylists is extremely high.
“When I heard that I’d actually won, I was over the moon.
“I’m so grateful to all my clients for their nominations, votes and support.
“It’s amazing to know that they believe in me and appreciate the work I do.”
