A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of public order offences after a five-hour stand-off.
Gaskell Street was closed as emergency services attended the incident this morning, Thursday.
Numerous police vehicles and the fire and rescue service were in attendance on the road.
They were at the scene from around 8am this morning.
The incident is believed to have involved a stand-off at a property.
A 44-year-old man was arrested by officers at around 1.20pm this afternoon.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "We can confirm we have arrested man following an incident in St Helens earlier today (Thursday, April 20).
"Officers attended an address on Gaskell Street at around 8am this morning and a 44-year-old man from St Helens was arrested in relation to public order offences.
"He remains in police custody and our inquiries are ongoing."
