DETECTIVES have issued an appeal for information following the burglary at a family-run farm in Rainford.

As the Star reported Bridge Farm on News Lane was broken into in the early hours of last Friday morning, April 14.

The offenders had gained entry and stole money, purse and bank cards.

The cafe door was smashed and an outbuilding and house were broken into.

Police said no threats were made to the occupiers or injuries caused.

CCTV and witness inquiries are being carried out by officers, and anyone with any information or dashcam footage of the incident is asked to contact police.

Detective Inspector Tracey Martin said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the burglary, or may have noticed people acting suspiciously in the vicinity to please get in touch.

“We also urge people to please check your CCTV and doorbell footage and please share this with us if it captured anything of relevance that will help with this investigation.

“Any information, no matter how small, will help the investigation to help bring the offenders to justice.”

Bridge Farm co-owner Janette Cockayne said the break-in, the first in 25 years at the premises, had left her feeling shocked.

“It is hard to describe, I keep thinking ‘did it really happen?’, she added.

“I was upset and I was shocked. The last time we had a burglary was 25 years ago.

“How can somebody do that? Go into somebody’s house and take what is not theirs. It is just wrong.”
