POLICE say they found a motorist in St Helens who had reportedly "failed to stop" after a crash in Burtonwood.
Officers received a report of a car having been driven into a post on Clay Lane, Burtonwood, shortly after noon today, Monday, April 17.
Cheshire Police said the driver had "failed to stop" after the incident and drove towards St Helens.
Residents reported seeing a police presence in the area of Mill Lane in Sutton Leach this afternoon.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said officers had located the driver in the area, who has been taken to hospital.

The Cheshire Police spokesman said: "At 12.10pm on Monday, April 17, police were called to reports of a collision on Clay Lane, Burtonwood.
"The caller reported that a car had driven into a post activating the airbags.
"The driver failed to stop after the incident and drove off towards St Helens.
"Officers have since located the driver and they have been taken to hospital as a precaution."
