A DOCTOR has been crowned the winner of the Grand National Ladies Day Style Award at Aintree racecourse today (April 14).
Sian Jones, 26, was named the winner of The 2023 Style Awards landing a host of prizes including a £5,000 holiday.
Good Morning Britain presenters Charlotte Hawkins and Mark Heyes announced Sian, from Ellesmere Port, as the champion of the annual event at Aintree Racecourse, and she was stunned at triumphing in a "last-minute" yellow, floral outfit, complete with matching headband and shoes.
Sian, a Leeds-based general surgery doctor, said: "I'm in complete shock, I can't believe it.
"I've never been to the races here before. I've only been here for medical exams. I work in Leeds now, so I travelled down this morning.
"My outfit is only from ASOS, because it was quite a last-minute thing. I feel weirdly guilty that it was all last-minute. My headband is from Etsy, and my bag is from a charity shop. I'm a big charity shop fan, I probably go weekly.
"My friend Chloe, she's an anaesthetist, suggested we enter. I'll take her with me on holiday, because she kindly gave me the umbrella on the way, so her hair is soaked now and mine is dry. It was very kind."
For finishing first, Sian scooped a holiday worth £5,000 along with £1,500 spending money, a £1,000 donation to her chosen charity, a £300 House of Cavani voucher and in-store experience, two Garden Club Tickets to Ladies Day 2024 at Aintree, and a Randox Health full-body Everyman and Everywoman package.
She said: "I need to go somewhere warm on the holiday. It's quite cold today, but I'm really grateful for this skirt, because it is about eight layers thick.
"I'm having such a good day anyway, it's a nice atmosphere. It's been brilliant."
Sian plans to donate the £1,000 to a brain tumour charity in Liverpool after her uncle passed away from the disease.
She said: "I'll probably donate the money to The Brain Tumour Society, because my uncle died of a brain tumour when I was quite young, so probably that."
Steve Mulholland finished in second place, winning a tech bundle worth £3,000, a £200 House of Cavani voucher, two Festival Zone tickets to Ladies Day 2024, and two places in hospitality on one of Aintree’s Music Nights in 2023.
Carmen Lee finished third, scooping a £500 QUIZ gift voucher to spend in-store or online, a £100 House of Cavani voucher, and two Festival Zone tickets to Ladies Day 2024.
