A WOMAN has been arrested on suspicion of wounding following a stabbing.
At around 4.15am today (Friday, April 14) police were called to a report that a man in his 30s had been stabbed on Southworth Road in Newton-le-Willows.
He has been taken to hospital and is being treated for his injuries which police say are not believed to be life-threatening.
A 43-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of wounding and assault by beating of an emergency worker.

She has been taken to police custody to be questioned.
Police add inquiries are ongoing.
A Merseyside Police spokeswoman added: "We are in the early stages of investigating the incident and our inquiries are ongoing.
