ELEVEN-year-old Coronation Street star Jude Riordan ‘absolutely chuffed’ after finding out he’s nominated for a British Soap Award.
Jude, 11, from Lea Green, portrays Sam Blakeman in the ITV show, and has been shortlisted for the 'Young Performer' category.
The former St John Vianney pupil has won the hearts of audiences since appearing for the first time on 'The Cobbles' as long-running character Nick Tilsley's son in 2020.
Jude has put in some impressive performances in depicting Sam, including when his character lost his mum Natasha in 2021.
Jude’s mum Kellie Riordan spoke to the Star about the nomination and how pleased the family are with the community support.
She said: “We only found out when Coronation Street shared the list and we were made up. Jude was absolutely chuffed.
“It’s not an easy category and there are so many amazing actors and young actors so it’s very exciting and we don’t take it for granted.
“I posted it on community groups in St Helens and as usual the community response has been incredible as this year the voting is done by viewers so we need everyone to support Jude and it’s amazing to see our town rally behind him.”
Jude also stars as Tyler, the son of Michelle Keegan and Joseph Gilgun’s characters in the Sky drama Brassic.
