THE new premises of a popular garden centre has been officially unveiled.
Ribbon cut
Mayor of Knowsley Cllr Eddie Connor cut the ribbon to the new Whitakers Garden Centre on Manchester Road, Prescot, opening the new site opened to the public just before the Easter Bank Holiday Weekend.
The mayor, along with other local stakeholders were invited to a private pre-launch of the garden centre last week to provide final feedback before the doors opened to the public just a few days later.

Speaking of the opening, the mayor commended Whitakers for its contribution to the local area, both in offering a local, family-run business to the area and creating jobs, as well as supporting several charities, groups and schools throughout the region.
The grand opening of the new Whitakers Garden Centre, set just over a mile away from its previous location, opened on Thursday, April 6 after much anticipation.
Customers are invited to explore the new purpose-built store and its selection of plants, gardening tools, and outdoor living products seven days a week, with opening hours from 9am to 6pm every day.
New lines have also been added.
The new premises offers shoppers around 1,500 square metres of retail space, stocking business’ full range of favourites including outdoor and indoor plants, garden furniture and equipment as well as a wide range of accessories.
