SNAPSHOTS of high streets across the country are on display at Prescot Shopping Centre.
Historic England and Photoworks have developed the Picturing High Streets outdoor exhibition, touring towns and cities across England from this month.
Since September 2022, people across England have been sharing their high street photos with Historic England on Instagram as part of Picturing High Streets, a project to celebrate and document the high street of today.
In January this year, a panel of judges chose a selection of more than 60 winning images from the thousands submitted by the public.
These will be exhibited in different spaces and formats across England from March 2023 and from today, a selection of images, capturing high streets from across the country, will be on display in shop windows in Prescot Shopping Centre.
The collection presents a snapshot of a year in the life of the English high street, documenting and celebrating the people, places and stories it holds.
The exhibition in Prescot Shopping Centre runs until April 3, 2023.

About Picturing High Streets
The Picturing High Streets exhibition is part of a three-year project by Historic England and Photoworks, in partnership with Open Eye Gallery for Prescot, to create a contemporary portrait of England’s high streets.
This exhibition is part of Historic England’s £95 million government-funded High Streets Heritage Action Zone scheme, breathing new life into high streets across England, which in Prescot includes the £3.1 million heritage-led regeneration programme.
