A MAN was taken to Whiston Hospital and then rushed to Walton Hospital after being hit by a car in St Helens town centre.
At around 10.35pm on Wednesday, March 22, it was reported that a road traffic collision occurred on King Street, close to the roundabout near the YMCA building.
It was reported that a pedestrian was hit by a Kia Picanto while crossing the street and suffered injuries.
A road closure was temporarily put in place as the emergency services arrived and dealt with the scene.

Family confirm serious injuries
In our initial report, the Star received information from Merseyside Police which stated that the incident was a "slight injury collision" without the need for an ambulance.
However, following enquiries with the North West Ambulance Service and the family of the man involved, it was later confirmed that an ambulance and rapid response unit were dispatched to the incident, and the ambulance crew treated and conveyed the patient to Whiston Hospital.
The family explained that the man, who doesn't want to be identified, suffered a broken pelvis and tibia.
For further assessments of his head injuries, he was later transferred to Walton Hospital in Liverpool, which specialises in neurology and neurosurgery, where he was told that he had suffered a bleed on the brain.
Pedestrian recovering in hospital
The family says that the man is still recovering in hospital with injuries that they describe as serious but not life-threatening.
With his family there to support him, he is said to be in a stable condition but left confused by the impact caused by his head injury.
