Campaign for crackdown of dangerous parking and speed outside school

Chain Lane is reportedly full to the brim with vehicles near the school which is being rebuilt as part of a huge project.

One mum claims the issue is so bad, that the lollipop woman in place left her post, with the council currently trying to hire another as quick as possible.

Mum-of-two Emma Milroy, said: “Due to costs, the school stopped paying for a lollipop person just before covid and due to the pandemic and the school not being open, cars have been used to driving past the school without slowing down like they did before.

“Now obviously children are back and school but it’s awful, plus contractors are parking on the road to work on the new build and it’s just getting too much.

“The council started funding another lollipop woman but it was so dangerous for her having to step out into the road and peering past parked vehicles that she didn’t last long.

“We are just really concerned that it’s an accident waiting to happen.”

Cllr Trisha Long, said: "The previous crossing patrol operative for Ashurst Primary School has left the post so the vacancy is being advertised by the Council.

“Parents and carers really value the help that crossing patrol operatives give so we're hoping that people come forward to apply and contact the Council."
