A MAN has died following a late night collision which closed the motorway for several hours.
The incident occurred on the M62 eastbound between junction eight for Burtonwood and junction nine for Winwick.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 9.30pm last night, Sunday, following a serious collision between a pedestrian and a car.
A 51-year-old man from Warrington was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
A full closure of the motorway was put in place by police and National Highways, with all lanes reopening at around 4am.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “At around 9.30pm on Sunday, March 19, police were called to reports of a collision on the M62 between junctions eight and nine.
“Officers attended and found that a grey Mercedes X350 had collided with a pedestrian.
“Sadly, the pedestrian, 51-year-old man from Warrington, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Enquiries in relation to the incident are underway.”
