SAINTS have paid tribute to former prop forward Bryn Hargreaves after his death was sadly confirmed yesterday

Family yesterday announced that the body of the former Challenge Cup and World Club Challenge winning front rower had been found.

The 37-year-old, who had been living in the Cheat Lake area of Morgantown in West Virginia, USA, had been missing since January 2022.

Saints Chairman Eamonn McManus said: “It is with great sadness that we hear of the death of our former player Bryn Hargreaves.

“Our thoughts and prayers are very much with his family at this incredibly difficult time.

"They have also had to deal with a prolonged period of stress prior this awful news.

“Bryn was extremely well liked and respected by his team mates and by all involved with the club during his four seasons with us from 2007 to 2010.

“He was very much part of the great Saints team of that era and was a World Club Challenge winner in 2007 and a Challenge Cup winner in 2008.

“It is a real tragedy that he has died at such a young age. He will be remembered with genuine warmth and with affection by us all.”

Hargreaves joined Saints from Wigan in the 2007 season and made 115 appearances in his four seasons.

Highlights were coming off the bench in the 2007 win over Brisbane Broncos in the World Club Challenge at Bolton, and against Hull FC at Wembley in the 2008 Challenge Cup Final.

The club added: "We would like to send our most heartfelt thoughts to his family and friends at this sad time."
