AN OPENING date has been set for a footwear shop which is relocating in St Helens town centre.

Where will the store be?

Retailer Shoe Zone will launch in St Helens at 28/30 Church Street, at what was previously the Perfect Home unit.

Shoe Zone is moving as part of the long-term regeneration plans for the town centre.

The ambitious plans will see the Hardshaw Centre flattened and so retailers based there are being given the opportunity to relocate by St Helens Council, which owns both of the town’s main shopping centres.

The Star has previously reported how Bonmarche has moved from the Hardshaw to Church Square.

Former sweet and flower stall traders have also made the switch, setting up as Infinity Occasions on Church Street, next to Greggs.

'New concept' store

Shoe Zone say the "new concept" store will offer a wide range of affordable shoe styles and brands, and will launch with savings and opening offers.

Shoe Zone adds it will conbine a selection of its own brands with a huge range of name-brands, such as Lotus, Heavenly Feet, and Lunar.

The store says it is also bringing new jobs to the area with Susan Lister as store manager, expanding the team with one vacancy. The new concept store also brings opportunities for existing staff members to work optional extra hours.

When will the store open?

The store will open its doors on Saturday, March 11.

The new shop will be open 9am until 5.30pm from Mondays to Saturdays, and 10.30am to 4pm on Sundays.

Store will 'support growth of high street'

Anthony Smith, Shoe Zone chief executive, said: “We’re looking forward to opening this new Shoe Zone store in St Helens, widening the selection of styles for our customers and making both branded and our own brand styles more easily accessible to them.”

Ken Gray, owner of Heavenly Feet, added: "We're thrilled to be a brand that Shoe Zone is stocking at its new St Helens store as it opens this week.”

“This opening will support the continued growth of St Helens' high-street and address consumer demand for choice as well as value. Across the market, shoppers are looking for quality as well as affordability, and that's something we're really proud to offer thanks to partnerships with our retailers like Shoe Zone."
