AN EIGHT-YEAR-OLD girl has shown both compassion and dedication as she has spent the past month raising money for children and adults with cancer.
Daisy Smith, an Ashurst Primary School pupil from Haresfinch, came to her parents with a desire to raise money for those suffering from cancer last month.
With family friends suffering from cancer, mum Chantelle and dad Liam were eager to help their daughter on her charitable challenge, and came up with ideas and organised an online fundraising page.

For the past month, this has seen Daisy and the family making handcrafted bracelets and ribbons, as well as homemade cakes and cookies.
Gathering the support of friends, family, and the wider community, Daisy has also been able to gather enough gifts and donations to host a raffle and a cash-prize football scorecard.
With generous donations from local businesses, the raffle included prizes such as free meals, bar tabs, hair and beauty vouchers, and personalised gifts.
In just over a month, this has meant that the primary pupil has now raised almost £1,200, which will be split between the Children with Cancer UK and Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust charities.
Dad Liam, who works at a Funeral Directors in St Helens, said: "Daisy is amazed at how much the fundraising has taken off.
"She just really wanted to help people, so we came up with some ideas for her and set a little target.
"But we have smashed that target and she is really proud to have raised so much money, and it's been great to see everyone get involved and support her too."
