WOMENSWEAR retailer Select will open its new store in St Helens on Wednesday.

As previously reported, the fashion store has relocated from within Church Square, to the former Burtons building at the corner of Church Street and Bridge Street.

With work finished on the unit, the retailer will be opening its doors tomorrow, Wednesday, February 2023.

Steve Brogan, centre manager for Church Square Shopping Centre, said: “We are thrilled to be retaining Select at Church Square, they have been a valued tenant for many years and very popular with our customers.

"Their relocation comes as we are experiencing many positive changes to the centre at the moment, but we know that shoppers of St Helens will be thrilled that Select is remaining at the centre.”

The chain has 103 stores across the UK.

Pravin Soni, of Select Fashion, added: “We’re confident that out affordable fashions will resonate with our new Merseyside customers, and enable us to become a must-shop local fashion destination, offering a truly personal customer service.”

Meanwhile, Councillor Kate Groucutt, St Helens Borough Council’s cabinet member for inclusive economy, business and skills, said the council would continue to help businesses locate as part of regeneration plans.

A number of businesses have recently moved from the Hardshaw Centre, which will be flattened as part of the scheme.

Bonmarche has moved into Select's former home within Church Square.

Cllr Groucutt said: "We’re working hard to support businesses to find new locations as we make way for our exciting regeneration plans in St Helens town centre, and we’re delighted that Select will be reopening in this key location on the high street.”
