A ST HELENS man has been crowned winner of a historic car championship.
Andy Middlehurst, who runs Middlehurst Nissan garage with his son Chris in St Helens, came out on top in last year's Historic Saloon Car Championship.
Racing in motorsport for the best part of four decades, Andy has won numerous titles in historic car championships and has raced against drivers who would go on to be Formula One heroes, like Ayrton Senna.
With a collection of previous championship wins, the 60-year-old took home his latest title at the Historic Saloon Car Championship for 2022.

Racing in a 1993 Nissan Skyline, which has the capacity to reach speeds of up to 180 miles per hour, the championship includes four one-hour races.
This includes a race along the famous track at Silverstone, a Formula One racetrack where Andy took pole position last year.
With pitstops allowing a change in driver in the races, the Nissan owner Jon Bailey worked with Andy to drive home the Championship win.
Andy said: "I am so pleased to still be winning Racing Championships after racing cars for over 40 years.
"Its history repeating itself as I last won the National Saloon Championships in the Nissan Skyline in 1996, which was prepared at our Garage in Jackson Street, in St Helens."
The Middlehurst car garage was been established in St Helens in 1957 by Andy's grandad Jack, who was involved in motorsport racing since the 1930s.
This love of cars and motorsport carried through the generations with Andy's dad Philip, himself, and his son Chris, who have all raced competitively.
Andy will again compete in this year's Historic Saloon Car Championship, along with his son Chris, which begins at Donington Park in Derby, in April.
