A LARGE police presence was in St Helens town centre after a pedestrian was hit by a car.
The incident happened on the YMCA roundabout on Sunday night.
The roundabout was partially closed while accident investigations took place at the scene.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "At around 9.10pm, we received a report of a collision involving a black Volvo and a man in his 60s on North Road, near the YMCA building.
"The man has been taken to hospital for assessment of his injuries.
"The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is helping police with their enquiries.
"We are in the early stages of investigating this collision and are appealing for any witnesses, CCTV and dashcam footage which may assist our ongoing enquiries."
