A MAN arrested on suspicion of rape on Parr Stocks Road has been released pending further enquiries, police confirmed today.
Yesterday, Wednesday, January 25, the Star reported that a man was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of the crime, but this morning Merseyside Police confirmed he had been released n conditional bail pending further enquiries.
Though limited details have been released, here's an update on what we know so far.
What happened?
Police received a report that a woman had been walking home on Parr Stocks Road at about 9.15pm on Saturday, January 14, when she was approached by a man.
She was taken to a grassed area between the fire station and Discount Motor Parts, where the alleged offence took place.
Who has been arrested?
A 42-year-old from St Helens was arrested on Tuesday, January 24.
When was he released?
Police confirmed this morning, Thursday, January 26, that the man has been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Parry said: “Although we have made an arrest, we are still appealing for information to assist our investigation.
"We understand the concern that such serious offences cause in the community and I want to assure people we are assessing all possible evidence to establish what happened.

“I’d continue to ask that anyone who lives locally and has home CCTV or doorbell footage checks their devices between 9 and 9.30pm on Saturday 14 January.
"Likewise, if you were travelling in a vehicle with dashcam, please check.
"Parr Stocks Road is busy with cars and public transport, so any passengers of buses or taxis may have also seen something of value.”
