A WHISTON man was among two suspected thieves detained in a property garden after a police dog was used during officers' pursuit.

Early hours pursuit

Police arrested the two men on suspicion of multiple offences following the incident in Kirkby in the early hours of this morning, Wednesday, January 25.
 
At around 12.10am, officers spotted a suspected stolen BMW driving at high speed from Knowsley Industrial Park towards Kirkby, reportedly with no VRM plate.

Police say the car failed to stop, a pursuit was commenced and the car was found a short time later on Shaldon Walk.
 
With the assistance of PD Quga, two men were detained in a garden on Lindby Close.

Crowbar and drill found

Various items were found in the vehicle, including a crowbar and drill.

Cash was also found.

Arrests made

A 27-year-old man from Whiston was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and going equipped for theft.
 
A 30-year old man from Ince, Wigan was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle; dangerous driving; driving with no insurance; possession of criminal property; fail to stop; and driving without a licence.
 
Both men have been taken to a police station for questioning.
