ST HELENS' Johnny Vegas was inundated with messages on social media yesterday after speaking out about his worries.

The much-loved comedian and actor, whose real name is Michael Pennington, shared a pensive tweet at Crosby beach on Sunday afternoon (January 15.)

He wrote: "So the tide came in and said 'Hey soft lad, give us all those worries over everything and nothing and I'll take em back out with me'.

"As ever, thank you Crosby. It's been a busy day for a big daft busy head but all grand now."

'Take care fella'

With more than 529,000 followers on Twitter, Johnny's post was shared and viewed more than a million times on the social media platform, with hundreds of people replying with messages of love and support.

Many referenced the Anthony Gormley cast-iron statues on the calm beach, with one user saying it is their "favourite place to forget about everything".

Another follower wrote: "The sea always makes me feel better too, nothing like a fresh perspective of the world."

One fan said: "Love this, I know exactly how it feels having a big daft busy head. Let the waves deal with the worries."

Another said: "Take care fella. You give so much fun and laughter to our lives, make sure you give yourself some precious time too."

Another user wrote: "I hope you're doing okay Johnny. Looks a brilliant place to clear the mind. I'm going to have to visit there myself too."

ADHD diagnosis

Last week, Johnny appeared on BBC Breakfast saying that he had been diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

The comedian said he found out about the diagnosis before Christmas, which can affect behaviour and concentration, and result in restlessness and acting on impulse.

The 52-year-old said that the diagnosis “answers a lot of questions about behavioural issues” he has had.

He told the BBC: “In some respects, you can go back and look at it with regret, but I’ve had a bit of a charmed life, so it’s no regrets.

“I know now and it helps you make changes, I suppose, as you want to get more responsible later in life. I don’t see it as defining me.”
